I would like to tell a story of sorts, a story for a cold winter’s night, going back to when the Midwest was still relatively warm and snow free, a story I hope is true for others, the story of an ultimate team at a college tournament in the fall, and not a top team, either, but the Everyman team, the Bagel Fodder team…

The English teacher from Massachusetts has been an ultimate Frisbee player and coach for more than 25 years. Along with fellow coach Michael Baccarini, she is the coauthor of a new book titled “Essential Ultimate,” a guide to everything a would-be participant needs to know to play the game.

Here's a great quote: "what a coach knows but his players don't is irrelevant when it comes to winning games". This I interpret, as a coach, is your goal is to convey information about the game, the situation, and the skill to your players. This passing of information is done at practice and in games.

The first weekend of the UPA College Series is in the books, and Florida and Arizona have taken their first step toward Boulder, while Ohio State and Pennsylvania have built some momentum toward picking off two more of the sixteen spots. The second weekend offers an extravaganza of events from east to west.

On Monday the UPA, along with head coach Greg Connelly, announced the 20 person roster for the 2009 IWGA World Games in Tapei this summer. Of the 20, thirteen will be named to the full squad and seven will remain as alternates. The squad is as follows:

Wow, what a year. It began with my team write-ups and it ended in the best way possible, a front row seat at College Nationals in Boulder, CO.

Outside of Centex there were 3 big tournaments that happened over the last two weekends and the results are very interesting, especially for some regions that don't get enough press, ie the Metro East, the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

...Johnny Bravo is ready to boil over in 2008. Last year's Finals berth was another step in the process for the Boulder crew, whose recent nationals record has included four Quarterfinal appearances..., and a Semi's barnburner with eventual champ Seattle Sockeye in 2006.
