As good as the men's side is on a year to year basis, Boston 2008 could be remembered as the year of the elite ladies.

One of the biggest ultimate tournaments this summer is also the smallest. Only 7 teams are set to descend on Monroe, WA this weekend but the results will have far reaching implications for Worlds and the UPA series.

The Ultimate Showcase just completed its third year in the Boston area. It's a series of games featuring the club players in the Boston area against each other, competing in Open and Mixed.

In its inaugural year, the National Championship Ultimate Series (NCUS) lay $2,000 on the line for the women's team that earned the most points after three Cultimate tournaments: Trouble in Vegas (Tiv), Stanford Invite, and Centex. British Columbia (UBC) stepped up to the challenge and made the semi-finals of TiV, finals of the Stanford Invite, and won Centex, earning a total of 2828 NCUS points.

The club men's ultimate Frisbee team, the "Gentlemen's Club", is set on breaking the stereotype that club sports can't be competitive.

These past two weekends have been great for watching and getting back into the swing of things with ultimate.
