The Region that has suffered through the most one bid seasons since the redraw in 1998 will have to sweat out a few more weeks before it will know if it claimed the final Size Bid for the 2008 College Championships.

As the NCAA Tournament approaches, any conversation about College Basketball will be centered on who is in and who is out. At this point in the season, there are those teams that have solidified their resume and shown consistent enough results that the rest of their season is merely played as a tune-up and for a higher seed. The group just below them is always the most fascinating.

Every team in a Region gets to vote for the seven players that make it on to the All-Region teams, so everyone knows that if a player is on an All-Region team, she commanded the attention and respect of her regional rivals. For the 2008 season, there are 18 players across the country that have been recognized as All-Region caliber (some more than once!).

With fourteen teams punching their tickets to Boulder, all the focus will shift to where the teams will be seeded, and the path to the Golden Disc. Even though New England, which because of Brown has claimed as many trophies as any other Region, has yet to determine its representatives , the major questions about the 2008 UPA College Championships can be answered.

So all the sectional tournaments have been played. There have been some upsets, some broken hearts, and some truly spectacular sectional showdowns. I love this time of year because we get to see who are the contenders and who are the pretenders. Here are some final sectional thoughts and some regional previews.
