A quick overview of possibly Callahan winners for the 2008 college season.

If you got the chance to see the Worlds Open final, you saw an incredible match that capped off a great worlds for the whole country and the global ultimate scene. What was your favorite moment? Was it the shocking results of the Columbians in junior play? Was it the full emergence of the Japanese as an elite country? Canada's results?

Outside of Centex there were 3 big tournaments that happened over the last two weekends and the results are very interesting, especially for some regions that don't get enough press, ie the Metro East, the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

Wow, what a great day for ultimate. The series is so exciting because it is the time of the year where results matter the most game to game. Yes, you need to win to advance but leaving it all on the field and losing in a final is a risky venture.

Great weather today for the Northwest; just about 60 degrees, a thrower’s wind (8-ish MPH, just enough to allow only good throwers to hit the endzone from anywhere, but not enough to make them shy), and very little rain.

When you do drills (from your warm-up jog, plant, jog/run/sprint back, to 1v1 cutting), make a conscious effort not just to use your non-dominant foot, but to do so even to the point of exclusion of the other foot. Limit yourself for a league game, or mixed pickup at practice (hi, Dartmouth!), and try to maintain effectiveness. Does it work?

The Ottawa Program, two teams in full force, is headed down to the Boston Invite this weekend. It should be great.

The funny thing is half the people teaching ultimate teach people to pivot as if it is central to being a good thrower. And the other half that don’t stress pivoting, aren’t stressing not pivoting… they’re just ignoring it.

This is the first of a series of exciting weekends that are coming up over the next month or so. This past weekend was Yale Cup, which is basically a rehearsal for NE Regionals, Florida Sectionals, Desert Sectionals, and East Penn Sectionals. Next weekend also has it's fair share of action with the Bay Area, Carolina, and SoCal sectionals. Here are some thoughts.
