The author, who has only played sports in a negatively-competitive manner, joins a summer league and is impressed by the spirit of the game and the general atmosphere of league ultimate. His impressions were interesting for me to read since the only sport I've ever played myself is ultimate.

A very interesting article by a person who joined the Manhattan Ultimate Frisbee league without having any previous experience with Ultimate Frisbee.
An interesting quote in the article is: “know a culture by how it plays its games.” Which the author revisits at the end by wondering: "What if the spirit of the game were the spirit of the culture?" Not sure how that would work out, but he makes some interesting points near the end of the article.
