This is the first of a series of exciting weekends that are coming up over the next month or so. This past weekend was Yale Cup, which is basically a rehearsal for NE Regionals, Florida Sectionals, Desert Sectionals, and East Penn Sectionals. Next weekend also has it's fair share of action with the Bay Area, Carolina, and SoCal sectionals. Here are some thoughts.

Below you will find the National Ultimate Media Panels Mens College Rankings for the weeks beginning March 17. Wisconsin, for the 4th consecutive ballot, has received each first place vote and retains the #1 spot by a mile. Florida jumped two spots to the #2 spot. Stanford jumped up 8 spots to 3. Carleton hangs in the top 4.

At the end of the weekend I felt euphoric, my dream of getting the chance to play for a team to represent the USA had come true. Though I thought my weekend could have gone better, I was happy for the chance. I never thought, through my years of playing hockey and soccer, that I’d ever get the chance to earn something with the letters USA on it.

This past weekend Doublewide, the club Open team out of Austin, Texas, was the surprise winner of the South Region, defeating favorite Chain Lightning from Atlanta, Georgia. Doublewide standout cutter Kiran Thomas has graciously given us a recap of this past weekend’s events.

Teams want the chance to showcase their strengths as well expose their weaknesses before they make their Sarasota run. However, I would not be surprised if the winner this weekend was playing late in Florida.

One of the biggest ultimate tournaments this summer is also the smallest. Only 7 teams are set to descend on Monroe, WA this weekend but the results will have far reaching implications for Worlds and the UPA series.

The main slate of Sectionals tourneys takes place this weekend. Here are a few select tourneys that are worth paying attention to.
