Aside from all the College Ultimate going on, there is this little tournament in Vancouver happening this August 2nd-9th, the WFDF (World Flying Disc Federation) World Ultimate and Guts Championships. In accordance with the WFDF rules, a team is invited to represent their country if they win their country’s National Championship the previous year.

In its inaugural year, the National Championship Ultimate Series (NCUS) lay $2,000 on the line for the women's team that earned the most points after three Cultimate tournaments: Trouble in Vegas (Tiv), Stanford Invite, and Centex. British Columbia (UBC) stepped up to the challenge and made the semi-finals of TiV, finals of the Stanford Invite, and won Centex, earning a total of 2828 NCUS points.

Wow, what a year. It began with my team write-ups and it ended in the best way possible, a front row seat at College Nationals in Boulder, CO.

As good as the men's side is on a year to year basis, Boston 2008 could be remembered as the year of the elite ladies.

Revolver's 2007 season ended abruptly. In Stevinson, a blast of the cap horn sent Rhino to Sarasota and Revolver back to the Bay Area with nothing to show for a year where they had hoped to build on their 5th place finish in 2006.

A nice mix of game footage and a couple interviews. Good to see ultimate getting more press coverage.

If you heard about a team that took their region three times in the last four years, made Nationals every year since 2002 and while there, made Quarters three times in the last six years, and the Final Four in 2006 - you'd likely say they were a contender for that elusive Sarasota Gold.
