After much discussion, both internally and with our friends on other teams, Georgia has decided to decline Cultimate's offer to join Conference 1.

Cultimate will be sending initial offers to top College Open teams to join a new championship conference this week. If successful, Conference 1 will feature 25 of the country's top teams playing in season-long competition, culminating in a National Championship tournament for the top 14 teams.

In a past topic on sectionals that was filled with discussion and with a comment by Steve on his blog, I thought it was my turn to give a perspective.

In its inaugural year, the National Championship Ultimate Series (NCUS) lay $2,000 on the line for the women's team that earned the most points after three Cultimate tournaments: Trouble in Vegas (Tiv), Stanford Invite, and Centex. British Columbia (UBC) stepped up to the challenge and made the semi-finals of TiV, finals of the Stanford Invite, and won Centex, earning a total of 2828 NCUS points.
